Soul of a Horse will be our first major fundraiser this year.  On Saturday, August 29, 2009 there will be a benefit concert at Emma Creek, west of Newton.  We will have multiple bands and musicians performing.  Those we currently have confirmed: Made from Scratch - blues; Levi Fowler - guitarist, alternative and folk; Blazmo - blues and rock; Rocken with Sharon Rush - blues; and Gravy from the Hip - blues.  We are hoping to secure at least one more musician, and will post that info when we know for sure.  One thing that is very exciting - several of these bands/musicians have been a part of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis!!  We will also have some pre-show entertainment.  Standing in the Colour - instrumental - will be playing at 1:00.

Bring your lawn chairs and come join us!!*  The event is set to kick off at 2:00 PM, and last until 11:00 PM or so.  Gates will open up at noon.  In addition to the musical performances, we are planning to have various vendors - both merchandise and food.  If you are interested in being a vendor, please see the "How You Can Help" tab for more information.

Jim, the inspiration for our rescue, will also be in attendance at the event - along with some of our other rescue horses.  Jim is a Thoroughbred gelding in his 30s who Ande rescued from certain death in September, 2005.  He was around 800 pounds at that time, and now weighs over 1100 pounds.

*Feel free to bring your cooler, but please no glass bottles.  And as much as we love them, no pets allowed.
